Website stats: What is the average rate of error messages to overall impressions?

An AIMS member sends in the following question...

Is it standard practice to include 404 error messages in website reports?

If so, is there an average/acceptable error rate/percentage of overall impressions? So for example if a site gets 1 million page impressions a month, error messages should make no more than 2% of that overall amount.

Can anyone jump in with what they've found?

We are looking for help to find experienced consultants for internet advertising/marketing. We are a small company and would prefer to work with a cost effective company. Any advice would certainly be appreciated.

Seeking a 'Pay For Performance' SEO firm

Submitted by Robert Mendelson from Select Blinds Canada...

We're looking for a reputable SEO firm who is willing to work largely on a 'pay per performance' model. In other words, if they get us to where we want to be on, for example, Google, then we pay. Anyone know a company that actually talks the talk AND walks the walk?

AIMS member looking to stay up-to-speed on all things internet marketing

AIMS member Nora Gubins sends in the following...

I've been a traditional marketer, working for professional services firms (that definitely are NOT early adopters!). I joined AIMS to network and ask a lot of questions. Most get answered but I still have a bunch. I'm  wondering if you know a savvy member who would be available to show me a few things / answer a few questions over a nice cup of tea.

I don't want to take up a consultants time if I don't have a specific project in mind, yet more and more I find that I don't have the full knowledge as to when to bring them in.....I want to know about things like creating portals, being an "aggregator", cultivating community, selling of internet ads, how the auditing works re a click through. I find that the sessions are interesting and I often want to go but my travel schedule often precludes me. I learn by listening and asking, so I've had my fill of reading off the computer and am wondering if you know if there is someone willing to spend say 90 minutes with me.

Anyone interested in getting together with Nora? Or have any other tips for how she can keep up-to-date.

Looking for email solution for less than 1000 subscribers

I jumped into the twitter foray this week (more about that later!) and noticed Kate Trgovac had twittered that she is creating a mailing list and looking for free software recommendations.

I suggested I post her question here and see if AIMS members had any recommendations. She agreed. Kate is looking for a small solution, less than 1000 subscribers.

So far she's had 2 recommendations:
- Campaign Monitor
- www.groupiecorral.com or www.industrymailout.com

Does anyone have any other ideas for Kate?

Increase in sales when creating a web presence - looking for research

AIMS member Bret Ceren sends in the following question...

Where can I find statistics regarding average increase in sales for a bricks-and-mortar B2C business that creates a web presence? I can seem to find the needles I need in the Internet haystack, so I'll take any and all leads.

Thanks!

Anyone have any ideas for Bret?

Looking for research on enewsletters

I had a call this morning from a reporter looking for research on the growth of enewsletters. He's working on a piece for a US based in-flight magazine and is at the preliminary stage of looking for stats and research about enewsletters.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

(Be interesting to see what impact (if any) blogs have had on enewsletters).

Recommendation for company to host website and handle billing?

AIMS member Christine Perl is working with an e-commerce start-up and is looking for recommendations on hosting providers. She sends in the following..

I am leading the start-up an e-commerce business and am looking for a company to host our site, handle the billing and provide phone support for the billing questions. My understanding is that a hosting company can provide all 3 services.

Who does AIMs use to host their site and handle the billing?

At AIMS we use Wild Apricot (a hosted website provider) and Paypal. Before our website relaunch last summer we used eApps to host the website and IATS to process credit card payments. In both instances all billing related questions are directed to me.

Anyone have recommendations for a company that will host a website and provides billing and phone support?
