I knew 2007 was going to be a good year. Four days in and I’ve just learned that Amazon has launched a site for shoes and handbags: www.endless.com. Now there’s a bit of blog feed I need in the morning.
While some may think it’s strange for an online bookstore to branch out into the fabulous world of shoes, I found it uplifting, sole-ful (sorry) and heaven forbid, comfortable! As an online shopper, I already trust Amazon. I knew I would be able to sign in with my existing Amazon ID and having just tested it, I can indeed. As a usability professional and marketer, I love the ease of their site and respect the Amazon brand. Don’t believe me? The seven shots of each shoe with magnification and detailed product descriptions may convince you otherwise. As a woman with a shoe habit (such an exclusive club, no?), seriously, what’s not to love?
They even have free overnight shipping for those stiletto emergencies. I’m waiting for them to extend that to Canadian orders and to expand their selection of brands - I know the site is still in Beta but where are the Jimmy Choos?
It will be interesting to see how the site grows and how Amazon markets it. I think they are certainly on the right track in terms of identifying with their audience. I, for one, am already sold on the site (and on a pair of zebra print boots).
What do you think of Amazon’s step into the world of women’s accessories?
You can add your comments when you are done shopping…
This site might be the answer I've been looking for! At the risk of sharing too much information I have a shoe size that normally requires a special order to be placed. I was overjoyed to see how easy it is to select shoe size, width, and type of shoe at endless.com. And even happier when my search resulted in pages and pages of options.
The price slider is also very user friendly and a nice touch.

Interesting business model.
What do other members think about listing shoes on Amazon for revenue sharring only to have Amazon launch another site now a competitor? From a customer point of view competition is good but as vendors we have to question just what they do with our analytics and how it eventually leads them to take a category for themselves that initially was only offered to merchants on their site.
