Thanks to AIMS member Judy Gombita from the Certified General Accountants of Ontario for pointing me to this post on the Trafcom News’ blog about Tod Maffin’s free e-book, “How To Pitch the Media.” (Donna Papacosta is a colleague and friend of Judy’s. Donna is an accomplished podcaster and apparently a huge fan of Tod Maffin and his work.)
Tod Maffin, a national broadcaster, podcaster, and futurist wrote this book because he was “frustrated at the lousy quality of pitches that companies and p.r. people were making”.
If you’re trying to get media attention this inside perspective from someone who is constantly being pitched might be the most useful 15 pages you read. Tod highlights what to include in a pitch, how to talk to the media, and follows it all up with an example of a successful pitch. It’s short, easy to read, and a ‘must download’ before your next pitch.
Save Big Money on Ebooks
Have you purchased any high priced ebooks recently? A great many people are writing fluffed up ebooks
that have little valuable information, but they sell for $47 or more.
Most of these ebooks are pumped full of needless, worthless information just to increase their page
count.
Not too long ago, I purchased a high priced ebook from a well-known AdSense expert who claims to make
thirty thousand dollars a month from AdSense. After reading nearly 200 pages, all he said is to make
the AdSense ads look like they're part of your website instead of looking like ads.
This was a case of taking ten pages worth of info and blowing it up to nearly 200 pages just to give
the illusion of value! Customers would complain that they were cheated if the ebook only had a few
pages with really useful information, but at the seller's price!
The new thing in ebooks is 'short and sweet' - just pertinent information, minus all the extraneous
garbage you don't need. Refreshingly short ebooks that give you the knowledge you seek without making
you wade thru page after page of irrelevant ramblings. Cost effective ebooks that inform you, teach
you AND they won't put a dent in your bank account.
How cheap? How about seven dollars?
